Spektrale 2011 is a science-driven event organised by the University of Mainz in the framework of the events celebrating Mainz as the capital of science 2011. Spektrale uses light, colors, and their beauty, to introduce visitors to science and scientific innovation. Prof. Werner Müller and Prof. Hainz-Christoph Schröder, partners of SPECIAL, presented a section dedicated to marine biotechnology (Deep-Sea - research at the bottom of the oceans for future innovations) and the many ways seas and oceans may help mankind and shape its future. x
