SPECIAL Open day in Genoa

An audience of 200 for Blue Biotechnology

An audience of approximately 200 people, most of them undergraduates and PhD students, have attended the 1st SPECIAL Open day held in Genoa on October 28th. More than 40% of participants said the event was useful to learn about Blue Biotechnology. Other good reasons to attend were: see what's going on (ca. 20%), meet scientists (ca. 13%) and ecplore career opportunities (ca. 13%).
The event featured several invited speakers that presented many different aspects related to Blue Biotechnology, ranging from field work to edge laboratory research and medical applications. Jointly organised by GAIA and UNIGE (DIPTERIS - Laboratory of Molecular Biology), the event was also supported by the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Marine & Environmental Biochemistry Unit), the Advanced Biotechnology Center, the PhD School in Biology and Experimental, Molecular and Clinical Medicine (UNIGE) and the 2011 Genoa Science Festival.
