Deep-sea sponge taxonomy workshop

São Miguel Island (Azores), 16-21 April 2012

An exciting and free of charge Taxonomy Workshop on Atlanto-Mediterranean Deep-Sea Sponges will take place in April at the University of the Azores in Ponta Delgada. The event, supported by the Azorean Regional Science and Technology Foundation, will run for 6 days and comprises: 

i) morning sessions with talks by the participants regarding their research and findings;
ii) afternoon sessions for identification of material that the participants bring along;
iii) occasional evening sessions for video/photo visioning (bring your own campaign photos and videos) and round tables to discuss the state-of-the knowledge.

Sunday the 22nd will be kept for a nice sightseeing tour around the island of São Miguel.

The workshop is free-of-charge but participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. There may be some money available to help supporting travel costs but we'll try to help MSc/PhD students in the first place. So if you have access to funding from your own institutions or your country's scientific funding bodies please use it.
