Blue Growth - sustainable growth from the oceans, seas and coasts
Public consultation 16 March - 11 May 2012
The European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, has launched a public consultation open to all citizens and organizations. The Blue Growth initiative builds on earlier policy initiatives to recognise the potential of marine resources and thus aids in realising the Europe 2020 strategy towards smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The consultation aims at gathering the opinion of individuals and stakeholders that have an interest in and would like to shape the EU actions in the marine and maritime sectors. The consultation will allow an initial processing of responses in time to feed into discussions during the forthcoming European Maritime Day on the subject of Blue Growth, to be held in Gothenburg on 21 and 22 May. For a state-of-the-art update about the Blue Growth initiatives, the Third Interim Report of the on-going Blue Growth study "Scenarios and Drivers for Sustainable Growth from the Oceans, Seas and Coasts" can be downloaded from the EC website.
