9th World Sponge Conference4-8 November 2013, FremantleThe most important international conference dedicated to sponges takes place every four years. The 2010 World Sponge Conference was organised in Griona, Spain and was the stage to announce the venue for the next one: Fremantle, Australia. This time, the Conference will be slightly anticipated to take advantage of the Australian summer. Centred around the theme "New Frontiers in Sponge Science", the event will be an international gathering of hundreds of scientists with disciplines spanning ecology, evolution, microbiology, marine natural products chemistry, taxonomy, genetics and molecular biology. Importantly, this conference aims to bring together industry with scientists so the benefits of sponge science can be taken up by the resource, policy and environmental sectors.
